While rummaging through my Amazon Prime account for something to watch over the weekend, I stumbled upon an interesting piece of Black history - a band called Death.
The band formed in Detroit in 1971 by brothers Bobby (bass, vocals), David (guitar), and Dannis (drums) Hackney. Death found their sound after being exposed to artists such as The Who and Alice Cooper.
Being a Black punk band in the 70s was not in vogue during the Motown era, and the "punk" sound didn't catch on until the late 70s. Death really missed their moment! The band's demos are now available on digital format and I cannot get "Let the World Turn" out of my mind. Listen up:
